Debunking the Myth of America’s Power
A Review by Dr. Sabri Bebawi, PhD
Dear friends and enemies, this coming Saturday is Veteran’s Day. Please do not misunderstand me here; I have great respect for our military and all their sacrifices though it is their choice.
The facts, however, is that the United States Military is not the greatest in the world as many, here and abroad, believe. I am sorry to burst your bubble and educate you a little and tell you:
Since World War II, America has clearly won only one of five major conflicts: Operation Desert Storm. (Please note that Operation Desert Storm was to free Kuwait from the incompetent destroyed Iraqi Military; I alone could have freed Kuwait from the Iraqis.) Korea was a bloody stalemate, Vietnam an “outright military defeat,” images
and both Afghanistan and Iraq — America’s two longest wars — hardly look like victories. Remember the speech of the idiot George Bush (the Baby) “Mission Accomplished?” I think he was talking about the mission of having Dick Cheney’s companies make billions of dollars. I would like to add that the main reason the US fails to win a war is that our military never knows for what they are fighting- they tell them for Democracy, but they see that we in America have no Democracy, or our phony democracy is a joke.
Nontheless, On April 6, 1917, the U.S. joined its allies–Britain, France, and Russia–to fight in World War I. Under the command of Major General John J. Pershing, more than 2 million U.S. soldiers fought on battlefields in France. Many Americans were not in favor of the U.S. entering the war and wanted to remain neutral.
Also, it is important to know that, in the old good days, although America has won few of its wars, there are two it lost. The War of 1812 when it tried to take over Canada but couldn’t, the second failed war was Vietnam where they couldn’t prevent Communists from taking over the country.
What gives the United States this reputation is the atomic bomb that they, with no reason not so ever except experimenting, hit Japan with in 1945 and that scared the hell out of the world. Now, however, everyone has worse bombs.
